Rinnai monitoring privacy notice

This service collects the minimum information needed to provide authorized, read-only water-heater monitoring.

Information we process

We process your Rinnai account email, an encrypted renewable session issued by Rinnai, associated heater identifiers and telemetry, alerts, consent records, and security audit events. Your Rinnai password is submitted directly from your browser to Rinnai and is not sent to or stored by our backend.

How information is used

Information is used to connect the authorized account, retrieve device status, identify maintenance or fault conditions, notify authorized service personnel, secure the service, and document consent. We do not use the renewable session to issue heater-control commands.

Retention and protection

Renewable sessions are encrypted with authenticated encryption. Active sessions are kept while monitoring remains authorized. Revoked encrypted sessions are scheduled for deletion within 30 days. Monitoring telemetry is retained for up to 365 days unless a different period is required for an active service agreement or legal obligation. Access and enrollment events are audited.

Sharing

Information is shared only with infrastructure providers needed to operate the service, the authorized plumbing/service organization, Rinnai when validating the session or retrieving data, and authorities when legally required. We do not sell personal information.

Your choices

You may disconnect monitoring through your enrollment link, change your Rinnai password, or request access, correction, or deletion by contacting the monitoring operator that provided your enrollment link. Disconnecting stops future monitoring; backups and audit records may be retained for limited security and legal purposes.
